Sick Girl

Kimberlen has been complaining of a stomach ache the past couple of days and I just blew it off. I figured that she has done this same kinda thing in the past and got better in a few days. Last night she got up around 3 came upstairs and into my room to inform me that she was going to puke! I told her to get in the bathroom(that's the last thing I want to clean up in the middle of the night) After sitting with her for about an hour with no puke and replacing the cool washcloth on the back of her neck I got her some blankets and a pillow and made her a bed on the floor. When Eric and I got up to get ready for work I moved her into my bed and there she slept until 8:30 (just as I was getting ready to leave for work) She informed me as I kissed her goodbye that her belly still hurt, so I told her to take it easy while I was gone. I decided on the way to work that this was a little worse than last time and for peace of mind I would call the Dr. My father-in-law called about 10 and said she had a fever of 101 and he was going to but her in the tub and give her some Motrin. The Dr wanted to see her because of the fever. When I returned home to get her to go to the Dr. my father-in-law said her fever got up to 103. WOW!!
We got to the Dr's and they took her temp, it was 107. No wonder she didn't feel good! The nurse immediately got her some more Motrin. They made her give a urine sample (that was interesting) and after seeing the results she had to get blood work taken. Ouch!! This little trooper that was crying the entire time after I got home didn't even cry when they drew her blood. She watched the blood go up the tube and into the vial. I think the guy that took it was more shocked than I was. Even Eric just about cries when he has to give blood. We had to wait around for the results and finally the Dr. decided that she had a Kidney Infection. How does a little girl get a kidney infection anyway? By the time we left the Motrin kicked in and her temp was down to 100. Now she is on a very expensive antibiotic and we have to call tomorrow to see if all the results are in from the blood work. Good thing I didn't make her suffer through this one, Poor Little Girl.
Lets hope she gets better, I love you Kimberlen.
And by the way a two hour Dr's appointment is not the place for a One year old. We went through a couple of tongue depressors, a roll of tape, my whole purse and a popsicle from the nurse who could tell she was over her limit!

That sucks! Poor thing. It's so hard when they tell you they are sick cause you never know what it could be. Hope she gets feeling better.

How sad! Poor chick! I hope all is ok and she is feeling better. Not a fun thing for a mother to go through either.

I hope she is feeling better now. That is so sad. I hate it when kids are sick. They are almost better troopers than mom and dad. You just want them to feel better and you will take the hurt away.
